Newport Beach Easter Shooting Suspect Arrested

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—A 31-year-old Riverside man was behind bars April 13 on charges of shooting at a man in Newport Beach on Easter Sunday.

Tristen Skylar Parker was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and shooting from a motor vehicle, all felonies, with sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder, discharge of a firearm, and the personal use of a firearm.

Newport Beach police responded to the reports of gunshots at 1:50 a.m. Sunday in the 2700 block of Newport Boulevard, between 26th and 28th streets, according to Newport Beach police Sgt. Shawn Dugan.

Parker was involved in some sort of conflict with another man before he opened fire toward the victim from a vehicle, Dugan said. The victim escaped injury, he added.

Parker did not enter a plea Tuesday at his arraignment, which was rescheduled for April 28 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach. Parker, who was being held on $1 million bail, listed his occupation as “sales.”
