Zuckerberg’s Contempt Charge to be Voted on by Jim Jordan’s Committee
The House Judiciary Committee is planning to vote on recommending holding Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in contempt of Congress. Republican members of the committee have accused Meta of failing to cooperate with their investigation into government collusion with Big Tech to censor free speech. The accusation is based on evidence presented in the Twitter Files and US District Judge Terry Doughty’s ruling, which show a pattern of pressure exerted by the Biden administration on social media companies. The Judiciary Committee will review a report recommending holding Zuckerberg in contempt during their session on Thursday. According to a Meta spokesperson, the company has complied with Congress, sharing 53,000 documents with the committee. However, Republican lawmakers claim that Meta has critical information that has not been handed over. Congressman Jim Jordan threatened to bring contempt charges against Zuckerberg if he failed to provide the requested information. If Zuckerberg is found to be held in contempt of Congress, the House will refer the case to the Department of Justice for prosecution.
