Vivek Ramaswamy Urges Newsmax: Disband FBI and Move Well-performing Agents Elsewhere
Entrepreneur and Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy stated in an interview with Newsmax that he would shut down the FBI and relocate the 15,000 agents who are doing good work to other law enforcement agencies. Ramaswamy also commented on former President Donald Trump’s legal troubles, saying that as a candidate, he does not view his opportunities in relation to Trump’s elimination from competition. He believes it would set a dangerous precedent when a party in power uses the police force to protect its own family members while using the same force to arrest and indict political opponents. Ramaswamy claims to be the first and most outspoken advocate for this view and stands by it. He also discussed his plans for overhauling the Justice Department, including shutting down the FBI’s back-office functions, but retaining the 15,000 agents who are executing their duties on the front lines. These agents would be reassigned to other agencies such as the U.S. Marshals, DEA, or the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network at the U.S. Treasury. Ramaswamy aims to restore one standard of law in the country if elected.
