Newsmax: Mark Morgan Predicts Border Barrier Dispute Could End Up Before SCOTUS

Former acting U.S. Customs and Border Control Commissioner Mark Morgan has stated that the ongoing border dispute between President Joe Biden’s administration and Texas Governor Greg Abbott could lead to a constitutional crisis that may have to be resolved by the U.S. Supreme Court. Morgan criticized the federal government for failing in its constitutional responsibility to protect states from external threats, and praised Governor Abbott for taking action to protect the citizens of Texas. He argued that the U.S. Constitution gives states the right to step in and address issues if the federal government fails to do so. However, Morgan’s assertion contradicts a ruling from the Supreme Court in June, which stated that neither Texas nor Louisiana had the legal standing to challenge the administration’s deportation policies. Nevertheless, Morgan believes that the court will eventually have to address the issue and recognize the federal government’s role in securing the border. He emphasized that the governor and the president both have a duty to protect their citizens from threats outside the country, with the responsibility falling on the governor when the federal government fails in its duty.
