Should Trump Debate? Rally Crowd Weighs In
Former President Donald Trump expressed doubt that his supporters would see the political advantage of him skipping the first GOP primary debate. He conducted an impromptu poll at his rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, asking the crowd if he should participate in the debate next month in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The crowd cheered overwhelmingly for him to debate. Trump argued that there is little for him to gain from debating, as he currently has a large lead in the polls. He joked that he would let Florida Governor Ron DeSantis take the arrows from the other candidates. Trump also expressed his reluctance to give Fox News the ratings boost they would receive if he participated in the debates. He criticized the other candidates as being at zero and questioned why he should give them any attention. Ultimately, Trump has not yet made a commitment on whether he will participate in the debates.
