DeSantis Comes Under Criticism from Anti-abortion Group for Not Advocating National Ban
Anti-abortion organization Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America has criticized Republican politician Ron DeSantis for not supporting a national ban on abortion. The organization called DeSantis’ position “unacceptable” as he runs for the GOP nomination for president. Susan B. Anthony President Marjorie Dannenfelser stated that a pro-life president should advocate for a ban on abortion at 15 weeks of pregnancy. DeSantis’ campaign responded by stating that he has a track record of protecting life and does not conform to the interests of Washington, D.C. The criticism from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America comes at a critical time for DeSantis, who is seen as the top rival to former President Donald Trump for the GOP nomination. However, DeSantis’ campaign has been working to improve his trajectory and reboot his campaign. While DeSantis is not the only Republican to face criticism from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, the organization also criticized Trump for not supporting the 15-week federal ban. Some other Republicans seeking the nomination, such as Mike Pence, support a national ban on abortion.
