Former Capitol Top Cop Labels Jan. 6 Events as a ‘Cover Up’
Former Capitol Hill Police Chief Steven Sund has called the events of January 6 a cover-up in an interview with Tucker Carlson that was never aired. The interview, which was leaked by The National Pulse, reveals that Sund believed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley and then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had intelligence about the attack but failed to communicate it and subsequently covered it up. Sund also expressed frustration at being denied support and intelligence from the military and National Guard before and during the attack. He suggests that there may have been a deliberate intention to allow something to happen on January 6. A bipartisan Senate report released in June 2021 concluded that federal agencies did not adequately respond to the threat of violence and that the Capitol Police’s intelligence division did not effectively communicate what it knew. Sund believes that if he had been allowed to do his job, the attack may have been prevented. The interview with Sund was never aired on Fox, and Tucker Carlson was fired from the network in April.
