Rep. Waltz applauds Newsmax for reporting on judge’s decision to reject Jack Smith’s filings
Rep. Michael Waltz expressed his gratitude for U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon’s ruling to strike two sealed filings from the record in former President Donald Trump’s documents case in Florida. Waltz accused Jack Smith, who had submitted the sealed filings, of adopting Rep. Adam Schiff’s playbook during Trump’s first impeachment by denying media and public access. Cannon also demanded answers from Smith regarding his use of another grand jury to investigate Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents. Waltz criticized the Department of Justice for selectively leaking details during the presidential campaign and attempting to impose a protective order to gag Trump. He argued that while Trump’s opponents were using the indictment against him, Smith was trying to muzzle the president. Waltz also commented on a federal judge’s decision to vacate the court-martial of Bowe Bergdahl, stating that people had died looking for him. Waltz called for a new trial and expressed concern that Biden’s political appointees at the Pentagon might sweep the issue under the rug.
