Despite Negative Media Coverage, Trump’s Approval Rating Rises by 43% in Morning Consult Poll
According to a recent Morning Consult Poll, despite more negative press coverage, former President Donald Trump still maintains strong support among potential GOP primary voters. Trump currently has 59% support among these voters, leading Ron DeSantis, the Florida Governor, by a significant 43-point margin. The poll results indicate that recent indictments against Trump, including those by the Manhattan District Attorney and the attempts to criminalize his challenge to the 2020 elections, have not had a significant impact on his support. While potential GOP primary voters are more likely to have heard negative news about Trump, this has not affected his majority support. DeSantis, who is currently in second place, has not shown significant movement despite multiple campaign resets. However, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has seen a boost in support, with a favorability rating of 56%, compared to Trump’s 81% favorability rating. The full results of the poll show Trump leading with 59%, followed by DeSantis at 16%, Ramaswamy at 8%, and other candidates polling lower. The poll was conducted among 3,486 potential Republican primary voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
