Courtroom Cameras Denied by Judge in Trump Document Case

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon has denied a request from the media to bring electronic equipment into the hearing involving former President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents. The ruling, issued on Wednesday, means that cameras, video, and audio recorders will not be allowed at Friday’s hearing. This comes after Judge Cannon rejected two Justice Department filings on Monday, including a request to leave filings under seal. Additionally, the judge has asked the prosecution to explain why a Washington, D.C., grand jury was used in the Florida documents case. The response is expected to address the appropriateness of using an out-of-district grand jury for the investigation and post-indictment hearings. The trial involves Trump and a new co-defendant, while two other co-defendants are not expected to be present at Friday’s arraignment.
