Chinese Spies Accused of Hacking US Congressman’s Email Communications
Nebraska Republican Rep. Don Bacon has revealed that the FBI warned him about his emails being hacked by Chinese spies, resulting in the compromise of both personal and campaign messages. Bacon was informed that the Chinese Communist Party had access to his accounts for about a month until June 16. The hack is believed to be a result of a vulnerability in Microsoft software that was previously disclosed, leading to the theft of numerous emails from senior U.S. officials. Bacon stated that the Chinese government is actively involved in cyber espionage and urged caution. The Chinese Embassy, FBI, and Microsoft have not yet provided a response to these revelations. Bacon, a former Air Force brigadier general, currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee.
