Blinken Clarifies: US Prisoners Not the Focus of Iran Nuclear Talks
During a press conference, Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the United States’ efforts to free Americans detained in Iran are separate from ongoing diplomatic talks about Iran’s nuclear activity. He emphasized that the release of detainees is solely focused on bringing Americans home and not connected to broader Iran policy changes. Blinken did not confirm reports about Iran slowing its uranium buildup. He also declined to comment on the case of Shahab Dalili, a U.S. permanent resident imprisoned in Iran, but mentioned that the U.S. constantly reviews the conditions of Americans detained in other countries to secure their release.
