United States Authorizes Transferring F-16s to Ukraine Through Denmark and Netherlands
The United States has approved the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine through Denmark and the Netherlands once pilot training is complete. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed full support for the transfer and training in a letter to Danish and Dutch officials. Ukraine has been seeking F-16s to defend against Russian aggression, but officials were not optimistic about receiving them soon. President Joe Biden endorsed F-16 training for Ukrainian pilots earlier this year. The fighter jets are expected to arrive in Ukraine next summer.
