Trump Refuses to Reappoint Jerome Powell as Federal Reserve Chair
Former President Donald Trump stated that if he is reelected in 2024, he would not reappoint Jerome Powell to lead the Federal Reserve. Trump criticized Powell for being consistently late in his decision-making, whether it was good or bad. Trump initially nominated Powell in 2018 but later became unhappy with him as interest rates were increased. President Joe Biden, however, renominated Powell for a second four-year term, which ends in 2026. Trump expressed his surprise at Powell’s reappointment and stated that he is not a fan of him.
