Biden Administration Takes Stringent Measures, Leading to Revocation of Additional Firearms Dealers Licenses by ATF
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has revoked over 100 firearms dealers’ licenses this fiscal year, angering the gun industry and causing disagreement in the law enforcement community. The revocations have increased under President Joe Biden, with 122 licenses revoked compared to 90 in the previous fiscal year. Some believe the revocations are necessary to enforce the law and prevent criminals from obtaining guns, while others argue that it risks alienating valuable resources in the fight against gun violence. Past administrations have typically issued warnings for violations rather than license revocations. Gun store owners claim they are being punished for paperwork errors and believe the policy is a violation of the Second Amendment. The tougher approach comes after pressure from gun control advocacy groups. A lawsuit has been filed against the ATF by Bridge City Ordnance, who alleges that the agency is being used as a political weapon.
