Hunter’s lawyer warns: Joe could be called to testify in plea negotiations
Defense lawyers for Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, threatened the Justice Department with calling the President as a witness if criminal charges were brought against Hunter Biden for a gun charge. The defense argued that President Biden would be a fact witness in the trial. The gun charge against Hunter Biden involved allegations of him illegally purchasing a gun by lying on a background check. The defense team believed that a guilty plea for two misdemeanors and a diversion program would result in immunity from future prosecutions, but this was later contested by U.S. Judge Maryellen Noreika. Defense lawyer Chris Clark argued that political pressure and leaks were driving the prosecution of Hunter Biden. Clark has requested to be removed from Hunter Biden’s legal representative, as he may be asked to be a witness in future investigations.
