Obama Seems to Advocate for Yielding to Hamas Terrorists Holding Hostages

Former President Barack Obama is facing scrutiny for his recent comments on the Israel-Hamas conflict, which some interpret as giving equal weight to the Hamas terrorist attacks and the Israeli operation to rescue hostages from Gaza.

There has long been criticism of negotiating with terrorists, but Obama seems to be suggesting that giving in to the Hamas terrorists who captured Israeli hostages is the solution.

“If you genuinely want to change this, then you’ve got to figure out how to speak to somebody on the other side, and listen to them, and understand what they are talking about and not dismiss it,” Obama said in an interview on the “Pod Save America” video podcast, according to clips shared on social media.

“Because you can’t save that child without their help. Not in this situation.”

However, Israeli Defense Forces officials have warned that Hamas is using the Israeli hostages and Gaza civilians as shields for their terrorist operations following their October 7 attack. This effectively puts innocent people at risk to prevent Israel from retaliating, according to officials speaking to Newsmax.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also stated in a recent address that a ceasefire would mean surrendering to Hamas terrorists.

Undeterred, Obama seems to suggest that “horrific” terrorist acts could be seen as a response to the “unbearable” occupation and military action against Hamas, who hide among innocent civilians in Gaza, including refugee camps, hospitals, and schools.

“If there’s any chance for us to be able to act constructively to do something, it will require an admission of complexity and maintaining what may seem like contradictory ideas: That what Hamas did was horrific, and there is no justification for it – and what is also true is that the occupation and what is happening to Palestinians is unbearable,” Obama explained in the video podcast, attempting to address the longstanding unrest in the Middle East.

“And what is also true is that there is a history of the Jewish people that may be dismissed, unless you hear stories from your grandparents or great grandparents about the madness of antisemitism. And what is true is that there are people right now who are dying and have nothing to do with what Hamas did.

“We can go on for a while.”

While Obama emphasizes the need to hear from both sides, he appears to neglect the perspective of Israel and the existential threat Hamas poses to its people.

“You can try to maintain your moral innocence, but that won’t solve the problem. So, if you want to solve the problem, you have to embrace the whole truth and acknowledge that nobody is entirely blameless, that all of us share some responsibility,” Obama stated.

“I reflect on this and wonder what more I could have done during my presidency to move things forward. As hard as I tried, I have the scars to prove it, but there’s a part of me that asks, ‘Could I have done something else?’

“That’s the conversation we should be having – not just looking back, but looking forward.”

Conservatives and former President Donald Trump have long argued that the Obama administration, and now President Joe Biden’s administration, have emboldened the anti-Israel Iranian regime to fund terrorist groups. Republicans argue that payments made to Iran have indirectly enabled funding for antisemitic terrorists like Hezbollah and Hamas.
