Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa of Chicago is Identified as Yet Another Progressive Bully

In a recent incident showcasing the struggles of American progressives against democracy, Chicago Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa is under fire for forcibly restraining a black female colleague in order to prevent a referendum that would have allowed Windy City voters to have a say on local migrant policies.

The referendum was intended to challenge the sanctuary-city regulations that make Chicago an attractive destination for illegal migrants brought in by President Biden, causing financial strain on the city budget, similar to the issues faced by New Yorkers.

As Mayor Brandon Johnson’s floor leader for the City Council, Ramirez-Rosa also used threats to pressure his colleagues into delaying their zoning requests if they attempted to allow the referendum to proceed.

This incident comes after progressive Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s act of pulling a fire alarm to disrupt a House floor vote.

In essence, it is reminiscent of the actions of left-wing individuals tearing down posters of Israelis held hostage by Hamas terrorists. A democratic response would be to put up your own posters, for example, of Gazan children harmed in the conflict.

These actions are consistent with efforts on college campuses to shut down speeches by guests who do not adhere to the progressive viewpoint.

Additionally, there have been angry demonstrations at the homes of conservative justices, obviously intended to intimidate them as the Supreme Court was considering the Dobbs abortion case.

This is not to mention the anti-police Antifa anarchists rioting in cities like Portland, Atlanta, and others.

A functioning democracy requires a clash of ideas and reasoned debate, usually resulting in compromise.

The modern left rejects all of that. It is their way, or whatever violence and intimidation they believe they can get away with.

If liberals and reasonable left-wing individuals do not start to reject these actions, they may be the next targets.
