Longest Strike in Hollywood History Ends as US Actors Union Reaches Agreement | Entertainment and Arts News

There has been a “tentative deal” reached between US actors union Sag-Aftra and Hollywood studio bosses to put an end to a historic 118-day strike.

The union announced on Wednesday that the longest walkout in its history will come to a close at 12.01am US Pacific time on Thursday following a “unanimous vote”.

The union, which represents about 160,000 industry members, has been on strike since July 14, causing significant disruption to Hollywood productions.

The deal was reached after the union’s negotiating committee spent days discussing several “essential” items, including artificial intelligence, in response to a “last, best and final” offer from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) – the group representing studios, streaming services, and producers in negotiations.

The tentative deal will be presented to the Sag-Aftra national board on Friday “for review and consideration,” it was announced.
