Rep. Fitzgerald tells Newsmax that the decision for impeachment is left to each individual member

Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, R-Wis., told Newsmax Monday that “each individual member” has to make their own decision when it comes to voting on impeaching President Joe Biden, but, as a member of the House Judiciary Committee, he’s “been there for some time.”

“I think, as a member of Judiciary, obviously working closely with Chairman [Jim] Jordan [R-Ohio], you do get kind of a deeper look at what are the facts and what has emerged; talking to Congressman [James] Comer [R-Ky.] as well, some of the bank records, and also what’s coming out of Ways and Means with Congressman [Jason] Smith [R-Mo.],” Fitzgerald said during an appearance on Newsmax’s “American Agenda.” “When you look at all of these in totality, it’s obvious that it paints a picture of what the Biden family has been up to for many, many years.”

“So, I’m one of those members that doesn’t necessarily have to be convinced, but certainly voted for the impeachment inquiry because there are a few more depositions that Congressman Jordan would like to do in private – by the way, not in the way that Hunter Biden wants to do this – that I think would give you the ultimate evidence that could be persuasive in getting kind of the final members there when it comes to the actual impeachment vote,” he added.

Fitzgerald was referring to the decision of first son Hunter Biden last week to publicly flout a congressional subpoena from the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating an alleged Biden family influence-peddling scheme that reportedly hinged on Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings.

The younger Biden, who lives in California, arrived on Capitol Hill Wednesday for what was supposed to be closed-door testimony; he did not appear before the committee, however, choosing instead to comment to reporters outside.

Responding to those remarks, Comer, who chairs the Oversight Committee, said: “We have specific questions for the president’s son. He does not get to dictate the terms of this subpoena.”

According to legal experts, the freedom of movement of the president’s son could now be in jeopardy for defying the subpoena from congressional investigators.

His decision to brazenly resist the order for testimony could clash with his pretrial release stipulations stemming from the federal charges he faces in Delaware.

On Oct. 3, Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to charges that he lied about being a drug addict on a handgun purchase form.
