Representative McCaul suggests that the Border Bill could be connected to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul, R-Texas, told “Fox News Sunday” that a border deal queued up in the Senate could include funding for Israel, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific, or Taiwan.

McCaul said talks of tying Ukraine aid to the border deal — which has largely remained hidden from the GOP conference, with the exception of Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., who has been serving as the Republicans’ negotiator — have gone “back and forth.”

“That’s kind of a leadership question. I could see it tied to Israel and Indo-Pacific. My thoughts on Ukraine: We cannot abandon our allies and surrender to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin in Ukraine like we did in Afghanistan,” McCaul added.

When asked whether a border deal should be delivered to the House “split apart” from any tie to foreign aid, McCaul suggested that tying foreign aid to the border may “not be sufficient in the House.”
