Representative Salazar Tells Newsmax: Implementation of ‘No AI Fraud Act’ Will Prevent Production of Counterfeit Images
The No AI Fraud Act, which aims to safeguard Americans’ rights to their likeness and voice by combatting fakes produced by artificial intelligence, is set to discourage hackers through the potential for legal action, Florida Rep. Maria Salazar informed Newsmax on Monday.
The Florida Republican emphasized on the “Wake Up America” show that the bill is garnering broad bipartisan support as it addresses a relatively new problem enabled by easily accessible technology.
Salazar explained that the bill establishes at the federal level that one’s voice, likeness, face, or figure cannot be used maliciously or for financial gain without permission.
At present, there is no federal legislation covering such practices, with only laws in 12 states providing some protections for citizens in those regions.
According to Salazar, the ability to legally sue those responsible for creating false images and voices, as provided by this legislation, is expected to deter such actions and hold perpetrators accountable.
The congresswoman expressed satisfaction in the widespread bipartisan support for the bill and noted that other contentious issues, such as border and debt reduction, could also be resolved amicably.
