Video: Brothers Reunite with 85-Year-Old Lady who Cared for Them as Children and Sing to Her in the Street

The performance was their way of honoring their shared history and the bond they’ve nurtured over the years, the brothers say.

An elderly lady who cared for four brothers when they were small got a special surprise from them—a touching reaffirmation of the lifelong bond they share.

Rosa, 85, was returning home from church when Piero, 46, Mimmo, 39, Gabriele, 28, and Amedeo, 26, saw their beloved aunt, who was also their grandmother’s best friend, and began to sing.

The joyful moment happened last summer when the musician brothers, who perform under the name The Esteriore Brothers, were out strolling near their family home in the Sicily region of Italy. Captured on video, it shows them serenading Rosa with the iconic Italian ballad “Ti Amo”—a song that holds a special place in the octogenarian’s heart.

Performing it was an emotionally charged experience, not least because Rosa often used to sing it to them when they were kids. They shared the touching clip on their Instagram page, where it quickly went viral.

“The moment we surprised Rosa was beautifully spontaneous,” the brothers told The Epoch Times. “We had just walked out the door of our family home in Sicily—we wanted to go out to shoot some videos—when we saw her. Instinctively, we began to sing, transforming a simple daily occurrence into a profound expression of our affection and gratitude for her. It was a mix of nostalgia, joy, and a deep sense of connection. Seeing her smile, watching her reaction, was incredibly moving.”

The brothers say that through their own experience with the lady they regard as a beloved aunt, they hope to inspire others to value and appreciate the elder members of their families such as grandparents.

The siblings spent their earliest years in the town of Ciminna in Sicily, later moving to Switzerland as their family sought out new opportunities. They all continue to live in Switzerland but make regular trips back to Sicily, a place they hold dear—along with their beloved Rosa. She was an integral part of their childhood.

“Rosa is more than a family friend; she’s a cherished figure in our lives,” the brothers said.

“Her influence during our childhood was profound. She was a guiding light, offering wisdom, comfort, and a nurturing touch that deeply affected our development.”

The brothers said that some of their fondest memories with Rosa include her teaching them traditional Sicilian songs. More than just music lessons, the sessions blessed the young boys with a deep connection to their roots and a love of their Sicilian heritage.

The brothers described Rosa as “warm and vivacious, with a deep love for music and family,” and say she helped shape their singing careers. Fusing Italian melodies with modern pop and folk influences, along with a mix of English and Spanish songs, the talented foursome says living in two countries has given them a unique sound.

“The blend of rich Sicilian heritage and the diverse culture of our new home significantly influenced our music and personal lives,” they said.

The brothers live busy lives, writing and composing their own music and touring all over Europe. They’ve performed as far away as Dubai, New York, and across Australia. But wherever they find themselves, the small, beautiful village of Ciminna and its people stay in their hearts, and they can’t wait to return.

“Each visit back to Sicily has been enriched by Rosa’s presence,” they said, “leaving an indelible mark on us. She has been a constant source of inspiration, and she instilled in us values of family, tradition, and the joy of music.

“It’s a call to cherish these relationships and acknowledge the profound impact they have on our lives.”
