How the country has turned against lenient prosecutors: The backlash against Soros-backed district attorneys

George Soros played a major role in reshaping the nation’s legal system with a $40 million investment, which was only a small fraction of his wealth.

By supporting prosecutors who vowed not to prosecute and backing district attorneys who aimed to create anarchy and disorder, Soros was able to influence the legal system significantly. At the peak of his influence, 75 Soros-backed prosecutors held office, impacting one in five Americans and half of the population in the nation’s most populous cities, imposing the ideology of Soros on their jurisdictions.

BUTA BIBERAJ

Biberaj, the Loudoun County Commonwealth Attorney, saw her office budget decrease due to her ineffectiveness. She was defeated in the 2023 elections by Republican Bob Anderson.

KIM GARDNER

Gardner, Circuit Attorney of St. Louis, saw a decline in conviction rates and had numerous controversial actions during her tenure. She resigned in May of 2023 after the Missouri AG moved to have her forcibly removed.

CHESA BOUDIN

Boudin, known for legalizing shoplifting in San Francisco, faced a successful recall in 2022 after being considered too extreme even for San Francisco. He was denied further funding by Soros but still received support from Soros-funded groups.

MONIQUE WORRELL

Worrell, who took office in 2021 and saw a high dismissal rate of charges, was suspended in August 2023 due to neglect of duty and incompetence.

ANDREW WARREN

Warren, known for his controversial priorities, including prosecuting a church for violating COVID lockdowns, was suspended by Gov. DeSantis. He stated he would not be running for re-election.

KIM FOXX

Foxx, who was widely criticized for dropping charges against Jussie Smollett and for her approach to gang violence in Chicago, announced in mid-2023 that she wouldn’t be seeking re-election.

DAVID CLEGG

Clegg, who narrowly won his race with Soros’ backing, announced that he wouldn’t seek re-election due to a serious health issue affecting a family member, as well as backlash after dismissing dozens of felony cases.

JOHN CHISHOLM

Chisholm faced criticism after freeing Darrell Brooks, who went on to murder six people. Amid controversy, he announced he wouldn’t be running for re-election.
