Newsmax interviews Mike Huckabee: Haley’s Error Was Entering the Race
Despite calls from Republicans nationwide for Nikki Haley to drop out of the race challenging Donald Trump for the party’s presidential nomination, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee shared with Newsmax on Tuesday that remaining in the race was not her biggest blunder.
“Nikki Haley faces a significant issue, and it’s not her reluctance to withdraw from the race,” Huckabee told “Rob Schmitt Tonight.” “Her greatest misstep was entering the race in the first place. She entered after pledging that if Donald Trump chose to run, she wouldn’t, recognizing him as a great president whom she would support.
“However, she ultimately reneged on that promise, eroding her credibility, which has been a major challenge for her.”
Haley has attempted to distance herself from Trump by suggesting that the turmoil surrounding the former president will hinder his ability to defeat President Joe Biden in November.
“She’s positioning herself as the anti-Trump candidate, but many people are rejecting that because they desire someone like Trump who will fight vigorously and restore the economic successes we had during his presidency. And right now, we need them more than ever.”
