DOJ Neglects to Provide Hur-Biden Transcript
The House Judiciary Committee is currently considering its next steps as the Justice Department did not provide requested documents regarding special counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into President Joe Biden, according to Newsmax.
Hur is set to testify before the committee on March 12 after Republicans raised concerns that the decision not to charge Biden for mishandling classified documents indicated a double standard in the justice system. Former President Donald Trump is facing a criminal trial in Florida for a similar offense.
“We received a partial delivery from the DOJ but did not receive the transcripts or audio we requested,” stated House Judiciary GOP spokesman Russell Dye. “Our staff members have the necessary clearances to review the content of the President’s interview, which focused on materials found in unsecured areas. We are currently reviewing our next steps.”
Hur’s report described Biden’s memory as “hazy,” “fuzzy,” “faulty,” “poor,” and with “significant limitations.” The report also noted that Biden could not recall key moments in his life.
Jordan and Comer subpoenaed Attorney General Merrick Garland for records related to Hur’s investigation of Biden and sought classified documents referenced in the report. The Oversight and Judiciary Committees are continuing their investigation despite the Justice Department closing its probe into classified documents.
Comer emphasized the need for transparency and accountability regarding Biden’s retention of sensitive materials and concerns about his mental state and fitness for office.
