McConnell urges the House to vote on foreign aid legislation.

U.S. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell is urging House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson to hold a vote on a $95 billion security assistance package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

“I want to encourage the speaker again to allow a vote,” McConnell told reporters at his weekly press briefing. “Let the House speak.”

McConnell also addressed the proposal to offer assistance to Ukraine as a loan instead of a grant. He emphasized the importance of acting quickly and sticking to the legislation passed by the Senate in February.

“The only way to provide relief to the Ukrainians and Israelis promptly is for the House to pass the Senate bill as it is,” he explained.

“Any changes made and sent back to us would delay the process significantly. We need to act fast. The Senate bill garnered 70 votes, so let the members of the House have the chance to vote on it. That’s the solution,” McConnell stated.
