Political Polling Reveals Trump’s Conviction Negatively Impacts Independent Support

According to a recent Politico Magazine/Ipsos poll, a majority of Americans believe that a conviction of Donald Trump in the New York criminal trial would not sway their support for the former president in the upcoming general election.

The survey revealed that 44% of respondents stated that a conviction in Manhattan would have no impact on their decision to support Trump for president.

However, 36% of independent voters expressed that they would be less likely to support Trump if he is found guilty.

Overall, the poll found that 32% of Americans would be less inclined to back Trump if he is convicted, while 13% indicated that they would be more likely to support the president.

With Trump and President Joe Biden expected to go head-to-head in a rematch for the presidential election, any significant shift in voter support could have a significant impact on the outcome.

Recently, a judge postponed the former president’s hush-money trial until at least mid-April to accommodate his legal team’s need for additional time to review evidence obtained from a previous federal investigation related to the case.

The hush-money case revolves around allegations that Trump manipulated his company’s records to conceal payments made to Michael Cohen, who in turn paid Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign to keep quiet about an alleged affair with Trump.

The latest Politico Magazine/Ipsos poll indicates that Americans’ opinions on the criminal charges against Trump remain divided along political lines, with little change from previous polls.

While a significant portion of respondents believe Trump is guilty in various cases, the level of belief varies among Democrats, Republicans, and independents.
