Rep. Comer challenges Biden to defend himself on Newsmax.

President Joe Biden may be called upon to testify before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee investigating potential impeachment or criminal referrals, Chairman James Comer stated on Newsmax.

“The ball is in Joe Biden’s court,” Comer, a Kentucky Republican, said on Newsmax’s “National Report.” “We are on the verge of providing the American people with the accountability we promised, as we believe the Biden family has committed numerous crimes.”

Comer added, “We believe Joe Biden was aware of what was happening all along. We are giving him the opportunity to defend himself. If he does not, we will move forward.”

According to Comer, three former business associates of Hunter Biden, the president’s son, testified under oath that Joe Biden played a central role in influence-peddling activities.

“There is no denial from the Democrats or mainstream media that the Bidens were involved in influence peddling,” Comer noted. “The disagreement is whether Joe Biden was aware. The only way to find out is by inviting him to testify.”

Tony Bobulinski and Jason Galanis, former associates of Hunter Biden, testified that the president was set to be an equity owner in the schemes they were involved in, Comer said. 

Comer also mentioned that Jim Biden, the president’s brother, implied to a healthcare company that Joe Biden was interested in an equity ownership stake.

“There is overwhelming evidence that Joe Biden was part of these schemes,” Comer stated. “Given Joe Biden’s numerous lies about his involvement, we believe it is necessary to give him a chance to clarify.”

Comer expressed his willingness to vote for Biden’s impeachment, but emphasized that criminal referrals are the best route for accountability.

“Our goal is to provide the truth and real accountability to the American people,” Comer said. “This could involve impeachment or criminal referrals to the Department of Justice.”

Regarding accountability, Comer added, “Our investigation could lead to holding the Bidens accountable for their crimes and exposing state actors involved in cover-ups of Biden crimes.”
