CIA Prevented IRS from Interviewing Associate of Hunter: Whistleblower

A recent whistleblower informed House investigators that the CIA interfered in preventing the IRS from interviewing a key associate of Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden.

The disclosure was made in a letter sent on Thursday from Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, to CIA Director William Burns. Comer and Jordan are leading the impeachment inquiry into allegations of corruption and influence peddling involving the president and his family.

According to the whistleblower, in August 2021, IRS investigators were preparing to interview Kevin Morris, a Hollywood lawyer and associate of Hunter Biden, as part of a tax investigation into alleged crimes committed by Hunter Biden in 2018.

The CIA, however, intervened to halt the interview, as detailed by Comer and Jordan. Two Department of Justice officials were reportedly called to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, for a briefing on Morris, where they were informed that Morris could not be a witness in the investigation.

The lawmakers requested Burns to provide all documents and communications related to the DOJ/IRS investigation of Hunter Biden as well as information regarding Morris by April 4.

Previous instances have shown federal agencies obstructing the tax investigation of Hunter Biden. Last year, two IRS whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and John Ziegler, revealed that the DOJ hindered the investigation by preventing witnesses from testifying and limiting the questions tax investigators could ask.

Morris, who testified on Jan. 18 as part of the impeachment inquiry, disclosed that he lent $6.5 million to Hunter Biden to help with tax debt. Hunter Biden is facing federal tax-related charges in California and has pleaded not guilty. He is also facing charges related to purchasing a firearm while using drugs and lying on federal forms. His trial is set to start on June 3.
