Rep. Warren Davidson Speaks to Newsmax, Exposing ‘Fatal Flaw’ in Afghanistan Withdrawal

Rep. Warren Davidson agrees with U.S. Central Command retired Gen. Kenneth “Frank” McKenzie’s statement that the decision to evacuate military personnel from Afghanistan before civilians was a “fatal flaw” that contributed to the chaos in August 2021, as mentioned on Newsmax‘s “The Count” on Saturday.

Questions remain about why Davidson and former Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley did not voice their concerns about the plan, especially when they had no problem doing so during the Trump administration. Davidson emphasized that when lives were at risk under President Biden’s command, they chose to carry out the plan despite knowing it was flawed.

Davison also raised concerns about the long-standing strategy in Afghanistan, which used to be “as much as it takes, as long as it takes.” He pointed out that the same approach is evident in U.S. strategy with Ukraine, raising questions about accountability.

Davidson highlighted the importance of holding the administration accountable, acknowledging that it took years to have such hearings due to a lack of accountability when Democrats controlled the House. He also mentioned the testimony of U.S. Marine Corps sniper Tyler Vargas Andrews last year, recounting how they were not permitted to stop suspected suicide bombers at the Kabul airport, which could have prevented the bombing at Abbey Gate.
