One brother killed and one injured after mountain lion attack | US News
A tragic incident in California has left one man dead and another with severe facial injuries after being attacked by a mountain lion.
The two brothers were out hunting for shed antlers in a remote area of El Dorado County when the attack occurred.
The younger brother, 18, contacted the county sheriff’s office on Saturday afternoon to report the terrifying encounter with the mountain lion that left him and his 21-year-old brother injured.
Deputies arrived at the scene around 1.30pm and found the younger brother with facial injuries.
Shortly after, the deputies discovered the mountain lion near the body of the older brother.
The animal was scared off by the deputies firing their guns and is currently being searched for by wardens.
While mountain lions have been known to attack humans in the past, the last fatal encounter was in 2004 in Orange County, as reported by the fish and wildlife department.
