Cotton and Rubio attribute responsibility for Moscow attack to actions taken by Biden
Sens. Tom Cotton and Marco Rubio expressed concerns on Sunday about potential terror attacks on U.S. interests or within the United States following last week’s deadly terror attack in Moscow. They linked the attack to President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.
According to Cotton, the shooting deaths in Moscow, where 133 people were killed at a suburban concert hall, are a result of the ripple effect caused by Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. Cotton also highlighted that the ISIS-K group based in Afghanistan was responsible for the Kabul airport bombing during the 2021 pullout, which led to the deaths of 13 American soldiers.
Cotton expressed worry about ISIS’s capacity to carry out attacks from Afghanistan, as demonstrated by the recent events in Moscow. He emphasized the potential risks to American interests abroad, such as embassies in Asia and students traveling in Europe.
Rubio also linked the Moscow attack to the Afghanistan withdrawal and expressed fears of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil. He mentioned ISIS-K’s reorganization and increased external planning capabilities following the withdrawal, posing a threat to the homeland.
Cotton also addressed the border crisis, blaming Biden for the chaos at the borders and the increase in illegal crossings. He criticized Biden for reversing Trump’s effective policies and sending a signal to the world that reaching the U.S. border meant entry, resulting in a surge in illegal crossings.
