Recovery and Good Health Following an 8-Day Hospital Stay

A clean (big) bill of health

My admiration for Kate Middleton knows no bounds.

Recently, I found myself incapacitated, experiencing uncontrollable shivers, high fever, and ashen skin. This led to an emergency room visit, followed by an eight-day hospital stay, a three-hour blood transfusion, and constant monitoring and treatment.

Despite feeling like a science experiment with more hands on me than in my high school days, the diagnosis was an unknown flu, not COVID-19.

During my hospitalization, I couldn’t help but notice the deteriorating state of medical facilities. From inadequate gowns to lack of fresh towels, the experience was less than stellar.

With the exorbitant cost of medical care, I couldn’t help but make a joke about the difference between Asian flu and Russian flu being about $700.

After a long and arduous recovery process, thanks to the care from healthcare professionals and the support of loved ones, I am now back home, grateful for the kindness and assistance I received.

Private practices

During my hospital stay, I learned the importance of following protocol and staying calm in challenging situations. The experience reinforced the value of patience and trust in the medical professionals caring for me.

Once back home, I continued to receive daily nursing care, with the unwavering support of my longstanding housekeeper and the generosity of friends who sent food and well wishes.

Reflecting on the ordeal, I realized the true meaning of health and the importance of cherishing every moment of well-being.

Scrubs? No. Schlubs? Yes

The changing landscape of medical attire was evident during my hospital stay, with a mix of visitors, patients, and staff donning casual attire instead of the traditional white uniforms.

The experience highlighted the disparities in healthcare based on insurance coverage, with some patients receiving extended care due to financial factors.

Despite the challenges and uncertainties of the healthcare system, I remained resilient and thankful for the care I received.

Alive & kvetchin’

As I look back on my health scare, I am grateful for the support and care I received, vowing to appreciate each day and moment in good health.

Despite the challenges and humor encountered during my hospital stay, I am thankful to have overcome the ordeal and returned home safely.

On this April Fool’s Day, I celebrate the resilience and strength that comes with facing adversity, emerging stronger and more grateful for life.
