Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Makes it onto the Ballot in Crucial Swing State Michigan.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his running mate Nichole Shanahan have successfully gained ballot access in Michigan, a crucial battleground state for the upcoming election, through the Natural Law Party.

In a news release, Kennedy’s campaign announced that the party has completed all necessary paperwork with the state. The Natural Law Party, which advocates for an “all-party government” approach to problem-solving by uniting ideas, programs, and leaders from various political parties and the private sector, selected Kennedy and Shanahan as their candidates during a convention in Michigan.

“He’s the most qualified candidate in modern American history,” stated Natural Law Party Chair Doug Dern in the news release. “We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Shanahan to the party.”

The inclusion of Michigan in Kennedy’s campaign reflects a challenge to President Joe Biden, as the state’s significant Muslim population has expressed frustration with the administration’s stance on Israel’s conflict with Hamas. Biden won the party’s nomination in the state primary, but a notable 13% voted “uncommitted” in protest against his support of Israel.

“Kennedy is a strong advocate for Michigan,” said Bill Costantino, the Western Michigan regional coordinator for the Kennedy campaign. “With a history of environmental activism spanning over four decades, Kennedy aims to revitalize the Great Lakes region and ensure a thriving fishing economy and ecosystem.”

While Michigan marks a positive development for Kennedy, he faces opposition not only from Republicans but also from 15 members of his own family who announced their endorsement of Biden, including his sister Kerry.

Recent polling by The Hill/Decision Desk HQ shows Kennedy polling at close to 10% nationwide, making him the highest-polling third-party candidate since Ross Perot in 1992.

As an environmental lawyer, Kennedy has now qualified to appear on the ballot in nine states, including North Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Hawaii, Utah, Idaho, New Hampshire, and Nevada, according to his campaign.
