Senator Ron Johnson tells Newsmax that Senate Democrats have caused significant harm by blocking the impeachment trial.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., cautioned on Newsmax that obstructing the impeachment trial of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas poses a significant threat to Democracy.

“I believe that the majority leader, as well as Senate Democrats, have inflicted great harm on the Constitution and the U.S. Senate,” Johnson stated on “America Right Now.” “It is our constitutional duty to conduct an impeachment trial.

“It didn’t have to be on the Senate floor. They could have formed a special committee, mainly consisting of lawyers, to hear the case, gather facts, and present them to the American public.”

However, Senate Democrats are reluctant to hold the Biden administration accountable for sidestepping American immigration laws to allow unvetted migrants to enter the country in large numbers.

“It was frustrating to have Secretary Mayorkas before our committee on Thursday; he might as well have been a robot or a trained parrot given his lack of response,” Johnson told host Tom Basile. “His rehearsed response was ‘I reject the premise of your question.’

“I asked a straightforward question. Presented my evidence, showed the undeniable reality of what he, President Biden, and Democrats in Congress have done to open up our border, and I simply asked him, ‘Why did you do this? Why do you support an open border? Why did you create this situation?’

“All he said was, ‘I reject the premise of your question.”

Mayorkas is not only accountable for the administration’s failure to enforce border law, but he also shows no “remorse” for the crimes committed by criminal aliens.

“Do you feel any remorse, do you understand that you are aiding and abetting these murders and rapes?” Johnson recounted asking Mayorkas, who was impeached by the House, but the Senate has refused to hold a trial. “All he would say is, ‘Our hearts break,’ but he showed no remorse whatsoever.

“He is not regretful. This is their policy, and it is crucial for the American people to realize that Democrats, the Biden administration, want an open border. They caused this issue.

“They have the authority to close the border. They have the same authority that Trump used to close it. They used the authority to reopen it. They can close it. They just choose not to.”
