Cornel West Believes Both Parties are ‘Beyond Redemption’

Independent presidential candidate Cornel West expressed his belief that both major political parties in the United States have deteriorated beyond redemption.

In an interview with The Washington Post published on Tuesday, West highlighted the crisis within the Republican Party due to former President Donald Trump’s neofascist influence, as well as concerns with the Democratic establishment regarding Gaza.

West emphasized the importance of remaining true to oneself amidst the current political landscape. He has been vocal in his criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza and recently joined anti-Israel protesters at Columbia University.

In a separate interview with CNN, West described Hamas’ incursion into southern Israel as a “counterterrorist” response. He acknowledged the diversity of Palestinian voices in the resistance movement, clarifying that Hamas does not represent all Palestinians.

Despite concerns that his candidacy could impact President Joe Biden’s reelection bid, West believes his candidacy is morally necessary. He has criticized Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict, which has led to a decrease in support among left-leaning voters.

West also criticized fellow independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for his views on Israel and Palestinians, stating that Kennedy seems disconnected from the realities of suffering.

West recently announced that California State University professor Melina Abdullah would be his vice presidential candidate, citing her commitment to empowering marginalized communities as the reason for her selection.
