Biden expresses concern to union workers about Trump’s attitude towards them

President Joe Biden emphasized his working-class roots on Wednesday, criticizing former President Donald Trump as someone who “looks down on us,” during a speech to union workers at the North America’s Building Trade Union National Legislative Conference, as reported by The Hill.

Biden portrayed Trump as an elitist outsider who values billionaires over American union workers, contrasting it with his own upbringing in Scranton.

He continued to highlight these class differences by stating that Trump inherited his wealth and has never worked in a “working man’s boots.”

Biden, often referring to himself as “Middle Class Joe,” has been actively courting union workers and touting himself as the most pro-union president in history.

His efforts to rebuild the coalition that won him the presidency in 2020 have included gaining endorsements from unions like the NABTU and the IBEW.

As he looks ahead to the 2024 election, Biden faces challenges with certain voter demographics, including Arab and Muslim voters due to his stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Despite these challenges, Biden remains focused on appealing to working-class voters and rebuilding support among union households.
