Trump: ‘Strong Possibility of Winning New York’

Former President Donald Trump, while speaking to construction workers in midtown Manhattan on his way to trial proceedings, expressed his intention to “make a play for New York” and potentially defeat President Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election.

“Biden is the worst president in history, and despite some bad people here, we have the support of great people who want us to run hard in New York,” Trump said, as reported by The Guardian. “I believe we have a good chance of winning New York. We’re going to give it a shot.”

No Republican presidential candidate has won in New York state since Ronald Reagan in 1984. In 2020, Biden defeated Trump by over 20 percentage points in New York.

Video footage showed Trump interacting with construction workers at 6:30 a.m. on 48th Street and Park Avenue, maintaining his innocence and calling the trial a “political witch hunt” and “election interference.”

As the crowd chanted “USA! USA!” in response to Trump, as reported by The New York Post, supporters expressed their excitement at seeing Trump early in the morning.

Trump’s attorneys will be presenting arguments to the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday in his defense of presidential immunity, while Judge Juan Merchan has ordered Trump to be present in New York City for his court proceedings every day.

Facing 34 felony counts for allegedly falsifying business records to cover hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, Trump maintains his innocence of the affair allegations.
