Report: Legal Pundits Critical of Trump Hold Private Weekly Meeting
A group of legal analysts who are critical of former President Donald Trump gather every Friday on a Zoom call to discuss his legal challenges, as reported by Politico.
The meetings are led by Norman Eisen, a senior official in the Obama administration and CNN legal commentator. Attendees include well-known figures like Bill Kristol, Laurence Tribe, John Dean, and George Conway.
Other participants in the calls are Andrew Weissmann, a former federal prosecutor involved in the Mueller investigation, and Jeffrey Toobin, a legal analyst for MSNBC and CNN known for a controversial incident at The New Yorker.
Occasional guests on the calls include Elliot Willlams, Jennifer Rubin, and various other figures from politics, law, and media.
The New York Post referred to the attendees as a “cable cabal of anti-Trump legal pundits.”
A legal commentator not involved in the meetings cautioned against the perception of collusion among mainstream media entities. Another participant likened the calls to a law school seminar with a noticeable anti-Trump perspective.
The meetings have been ongoing since 2022 and have covered topics like the Jan. 6 Capitol attack investigation by the House Committee.
