Rep. Ron Estes tells Newsmax that Antisemitism on Campus is ‘Unacceptable in America’
Congress is currently investigating tax issues related to student protests at universities nationwide. They are urging the U.S. Dept. of Education to uphold Title VI rules that prohibit the use of public funds for antisemitism, according to Rep. Ron Estes, R-Kan., in an interview with Newsmax on Monday.
Estes expressed concern over incidents where Jewish students were prevented from attending class, drawing a parallel to pre-Holocaust Germany and emphasizing that this should not be happening in America.
He criticized university administrators for either supporting or ignoring the protesters rather than fulfilling their responsibilities, noting the attacks and harassment taking place.
Estes, who serves on the Ways and Means Committee, stated that lawmakers are seeking answers and considering the tax status of certain groups and universities, as well as emphasizing the responsibility of universities under Title VI.
Lawmakers have reached out to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to ensure enforcement of these rules and the safety of students on campus, Estes added.
Estes also criticized President Biden’s assessment of the economy, highlighting the strong economy during the Trump administration and how citizens felt confident in the economy at that time.
