Russian Troop Casualties Reach Nearly 500,000 in Ukraine Conflict
Russia’s military has faced significant losses across all fronts during its ongoing war in Ukraine, with close to 500,000 military casualties and the destruction of numerous tanks, armored vehicles, and other weapons.
Leo Docherty, Minister of State for the Armed Forces of Great Britain, disclosed that over 450,000 Russian troops have been killed or injured since the invasion started on Feb. 24, 2022, as reported by the UK Defense Journal on Saturday.
“We also estimate that more than 10,000 Russian armored vehicles, including nearly 3,000 main battle tanks, along with various other military assets, have been destroyed, abandoned, or captured by Ukraine since the conflict began,” Docherty stated.
The General Staff of Ukraine’s armed forces reported a total of 467,470 Russian troop casualties since the invasion commenced, with 1,320 additional casualties in the past day, as per The Kyiv Independent on Monday.
In addition, Russia has also lost a significant number of tanks, armored vehicles, aircraft, artillery systems, and other military equipment, as detailed in a Facebook post by the General Staff.
The New York Times reported in August that approximately 70,000 Ukrainian troops had been killed and a further 100,000 to 120,000 wounded. The Russian forces outnumber Ukrainians on the battlefield by almost three to one, with a larger population to draw replacements from.
