Trump Criticizes Biden’s Decision to Grant Health Care Access to DACA Recipients
Former President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden on Friday for allowing federal health care coverage for undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children.
The Biden administration announced on Friday that participants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) can now enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace and the Basic Health Program. DACA provides deportation relief and work permits to immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children or who overstayed their visas.
In a statement released by his presidential campaign’s national press secretary, Caroline Leavitt, Trump cited concerns about inflation, job growth, and the economic impact of illegal immigration. He argued that American taxpayers shouldn’t have to cover the housing, welfare, and healthcare costs of undocumented immigrants.
Trump’s statement criticized Biden for prioritizing illegal immigrants over American workers, especially Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, and union workers. He promised to focus on American citizens if reelected, advocating for border security, job opportunity, and the protection of American workers’ interests.
