RFK Jr. Suffers from Health Problems, Including Parasite Found on Brain
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has recently revealed undisclosed health issues, including a deceased parasite found in his brain.
Despite being younger than President Joe Biden, 81, and former President Donald Trump, 77, the 70-year-old Kennedy has faced serious health challenges involving his brain and heart, according to The New York Times.
During a 2012 deposition reviewed by the Times, Kennedy mentioned that an anomaly on his brain scans was attributed to a worm that entered his brain, consumed a portion of it, and then perished.
Further tests revealed that the abnormality seen on the scans contained the remains of a parasite.
Kennedy also disclosed that around the same time, he was diagnosed with mercury poisoning.
“I have cognitive issues, without a doubt,” he shared in the 2012 deposition, as reported by the newspaper. “I experience short-term memory loss and long-term memory loss that impacts me.”
According to doctors interviewed by The Times, parasitic infections and mercury poisoning could both lead to temporary effects or permanent damage.
Despite his past health challenges, Kennedy mentioned to The Times that he had fully recovered from memory loss and experienced no lasting effects from the parasite.
Additionally, Kennedy has been hospitalized on four occasions for episodes of atrial fibrillation, a condition where abnormal heartbeats increase the risk of stroke or heart failure.
In the deposition, Kennedy also revealed that he contracted hepatitis C through intravenous drug use during his youth.
When asked if his health issues could affect his ability to serve as president, a campaign spokeswoman responded, “That is a humorous suggestion, given the competition,” according to The Times.
It has been widely reported for years that Kennedy’s hoarse voice is a result of a rare neurological condition called spasmodic dysphonia, which he disclosed being diagnosed with in his early 40s.
While winning the presidency seems unlikely, Kennedy’s candidacy could influence the election outcome as he is on the ballots in Utah, Michigan, Hawaii, and is expected to qualify for California and Delaware, as per his campaign.
