Senator Vance Advocates for Israel to Handle Middle East Conflicts
Senator J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, stated on CNN’s “State of the Union” that Israel should have the authority to conduct its own war, challenging the Biden administration’s decision to halt weapons shipments to Israel, their ally in the Middle East.
Vance criticized the U.S. for its poor management of the War on Terror in the Middle East, suggesting that Israel could handle it more effectively, as reported by CNN.
In response to President Biden’s concern about civilian casualties in Gaza, Vance called the administration’s policy “fundamentally incoherent.” He argued that withholding precision-guided weapons from Israel contradicts their goal of reducing civilian casualties.
Vance emphasized that the U.S. has a history of mismanaging wars in the Middle East and suggested that Israel, as a trusted ally, should be allowed to handle the conflict in their own way.
A recent New York Times article highlighted the paused shipment of bombs to Israel for their invasion of Rafa in Gaza. The U.S. has provided both guided and unguided bombs to Israel, with President Biden signing an aid package of approximately $15 billion in additional military assistance.
The Times noted that Israel regularly receives arms from the U.S., including fighter jets, air defense missiles, and helicopters, in addition to bombs.
