Senator Rick Scott Argues that Israel Must Take Action to Defeat Hamas

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., stated during an interview on Sunday that Israel has no choice but to destroy Hamas, in response to a question about President Ronald Reagan’s similar policy towards constraining Israel’s lethal deployment on Palestinians.

Back in 1982, President Ronald Reagan advised Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin to enact a ceasefire following the prior shelling of Palestinians in Lebanon by Israeli fighters, calling it “a holocaust.”

“Israel has no choice but to destroy Hamas,” Scott emphasized, pointing out that the last battalions of Hamas are primarily in Rafah. He criticized President Biden for not pressuring Egypt to open up their borders to refugees from Gaza and stressed the importance of supporting Israel’s ability to deal with Hamas in order to achieve peace in the region.
