MP Supports Investigation into Gender Identity Services for Children amid Growing Concerns

The Victorian MP has supported a petition from Bev McArthur calling for an inquiry into gender identity services.

Victorian Libertarian MP David Limbrick has also backed the petition for an inquiry into gender identity services, which was tabled by fellow upper house member Bev McArthur.

Gender identity services involve medical and psychological support for individuals questioning, exploring, or transitioning their gender.

State MP Mr. Limbrick emphasized that no child is born in the wrong body, and expressed concerns about children’s ability to consent to puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones.

“I am not saying this to shock or offend, I am saying it because it is true, and we must. Lies about gender treatments have brought us to another disaster of the kind that almost always follows when the state tries to take over the welfare of kids, but radical ideology requires a response of radical truth,” Mr. Limbrick stated (pdf).

He urged those who are offended by this idea to gain perspective by speaking with de-transitioners.

Mr. Limbrick highlighted the need for more data on the number of young people who attempt to reverse their transition.

“We do know that around 1,100 children were recently on the waiting list for gender treatment at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Victoria. We can only conclude that the number of de-transitioners will continue to grow.”

He added, “And the people who disrupt these families need have no higher qualification than a ‘working with children’ check.”

Don’t Deny ‘Biological Reality’: Limbrick

In conclusion, Mr. Limbrick emphasized that while trans people have rights and deserve respect, no one should be compelled to deny biological reality.

He stressed the importance of adults standing up and speaking the truth instead of fearing offense.

‘Victorians Supported this Campaign: ’Liberal MLC Bev McArthur

Liberal Party member for Western Victoria Bev McArthur expressed her pride in tabling Petition 512, which called for the inquiry.

She noted the support of Victorians for the campaign and highlighted the importance of basing clinical practice on sound medical science rather than ideology.

Ms. McArthur cited the recent Cass review in the UK, which she claimed vindicated her position.

She expressed concern over the endorsement and expansion of gender affirmative treatment by the Royal Children’s Hospital, allowing strong hormonal drugs for children and elective surgery for minors.

Ms. McArthur commended petitioners for standing up for the welfare of children in Victoria.

The Royal Children’s Hospital Gender Service in Victoria aims to enhance the physical and mental well-being of children and adolescents.

“Being trans or gender diverse is seen as part of the natural spectrum of human diversity,” as stated on the website.

The service accepts new referrals for any child or adolescent up to 16 years of age with concerns regarding their gender identity.
