Cruz Calls Biden’s Use of Executive Privilege to Block HuTapes “Laughable”, in Interview with Newsmax
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, criticized President Joe Biden’s use of executive privilege to block House committees from accessing audio recordings with special counsel Robert Hur regarding classified documents, calling it “laughable.”
Cruz explained on Newsmax‘s “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE” that executive privilege is intended for confidential conversations between the president and senior aides to encourage honest discussions in the White House.
He argued that Biden’s situation was different as he was under investigation for potential felonies and violations of the law rather than engaging in policy discussions with his administration. Despite findings by special counsel Robert Hur that Biden committed multiple felonies, the Department of Justice deemed him unfit for trial due to his perceived incompetence.
Cruz also criticized the claim of executive privilege in this case, suggesting it was a flimsy attempt to protect Biden from potential consequences of his alleged actions. He expressed concern over the credibility of the Biden administration’s decision-making, especially given Biden’s access to important functions like nuclear codes.
