Bloomberg Poll Shows Trump Ahead of Biden in Swing States



According to a recent poll by Bloomberg News/Morning Consult, former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden by 48% to 44% in the seven swing states surveyed. The battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin show a very close race between the two candidates, with no more than a 2 percentage point difference.

Biden has made gains in the Sun Belt states, narrowing Trump’s lead to 7 percentage points in North Carolina, 5 points in Arizona, and 3 points in Georgia. They are now tied in Nevada.

Additional findings from the poll include:

  • Including other candidates in the survey, Trump would receive 44%, Biden 40%, independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 7%, and no other candidate would receive more than 1%.
  • 42% of respondents view Biden favorably, while 41% hold a very unfavorable opinion of him.
  • Trump has a slightly higher favorability at 45%, but also has a higher very unfavorable rating at 44%.
  • Respondents view Republicans in Congress more favorably at 48% than Democrats at 45%.
  • When asked about the most important issue for them in the upcoming election, the top responses were the economy at 35%, immigration at 14%, and democracy at 10%.
  • Abortion, Senior Services, and healthcare were also listed as important issues.

The survey was conducted online among 4,962 registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin from May 7-13. The data was weighted to represent swing-state registered voters based on various demographics.

The margin of error for the survey across the seven states is plus or minus 1 percentage point.
