Trump’s Former Lawyer Alleges Judge in Florida Documents Case is Incompetent

Ty Cobb, who previously served as White House counsel under former President Donald Trump, criticized Florida federal Judge Aileen Cannon for what he perceives as incompetence in delaying the trial involving classified documents related to his former boss. Cobb expressed doubts about the trial ever taking place.

Speaking to CNN in an interview on Wednesday, Cobb criticized Cannon for scheduling multiple hearings on motions to dismiss made by Trump’s legal team and co-defendants in Fort Pierce, Florida, following the postponement of the original trial date set for Monday.

“I don’t believe this case will progress at all,” Cobb stated. “Most federal judges would have ruled on all pending motions by now. This case could have gone to trial already, but Cannon’s perceived bias and incompetence have hindered its progress.”

In previous instances, Cobb has publicly criticized Cannon, referring to her as “embarrassing” and “unhinged” for her rulings. He had also predicted her removal from the case due to alleged incompetence and bias.

Trump, along with his co-defendants Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira, have filed motions to dismiss the charges. The trial was indefinitely postponed by Cannon on May 7. Trump pleaded not guilty to federal charges last June.

When asked about Cannon’s comments in court regarding jurors’ ability to understand the case, Cobb expressed skepticism. He emphasized that most jurors are intelligent enough to comprehend the issues at hand.

Cobb served as White House counsel for two years under Trump.
